will the real sarah please stand up?
Week 9: Went Hard!
This week I had the amazing privilege of serving on work crew. Love me an emotional break. I love the behind the scenes work. You truly understand what it means to work for the approval of the Lord rather than the approval of man.
For you to understand what the Lord taught me this week, I must provide a tiny history lesson first. In the months before camp this year, I was attacked by Satan with a ton of lies - mostly about my identity. I really wrestled with this a lot while I was at home. Darn the ever illusive question - "Who am I?" Ask me a while ago, and I could have probably stumbled through an answer. But shaky answers are hardly a sufficient foundation for hard questions . . .
While I was home for the month of June, I realized that if I could be categorized into three people, I would have three different names to represent these aspects of myself ...
Am I 'Wyckoff'? (what everyone at home calls me)
Am I 'Sarah'? (what everyone at Tabor calls me)
or am I 'Speedoo'? (what everyone at Pine Cove calls me)
I could go into great detail but because of not only time and the shear fact that it probably would put you to sleep, we'll just go with what I have.
This week, I was read a story that I already knew/read. But, because of how amazing my God is, I read it a little differently this time.
Matthew 4:1-4
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread. Jesus answered, "It is written: Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."

What does Satan do first?
He attacks Jesus' identity by saying, "IF you are the Son of God"
He attacks Jesus' identity by saying, "IF you are the Son of God"
um hello. That is what has been attacking me for the longest time. Satan has basically taunting me, saying "IF you are a daughter of the King" . . .
And for a while, I tried to answer the question "Who am I?" by words from my own mouth, rather than the mouth of God . . . aka Scripture . . . wowza.
So my dilemma of 'am I Wyckoff, Sarah, or Speedoo?', is really no dilemma at all. In fact, it is a reminder of truth - rather than the lies that I have believed. I want to write an identity statement as a reminder of the truth of Christ, who He is, and who I am because of Him.
I am Sarah 'Speedoo' Wyckoff. I am a daughter of the King.
Who are you?
