telling the truth
An excerpt from my short story,
"The Timely Mistake of Missing Someone"
"The Timely Mistake of Missing Someone"
Epilogue
The young man and woman sat facing each other on the church pew long after the Sunday service concluded. People were gone to lunch, the janitor was locking up, and the lights were dim. The two young adults were out of polite things to talk about.
"I really miss you," he told her.
The woman knew he was telling the truth.
"That was a decision you made long before we were ever actually apart," she replied.
