Sunday Funday, Hiking Who-Even-Knows-Where

By Wednesday, June 08, 2016

A few months ago, Yanna invited me to go hiking with her and her Aunt and Uncle. I thought it would be the typical Chinese hike (go climb stairs), but then we drove out to the middle of nowhere and her Aunt and Uncle popped open their trunk. They threw on their hiking packs and shoved a legitimate walking stick in my direction.
Woops. I thought. They fo realz.

We hiked a trail that was hardly a trail, ate chicken on the trail, napped on the trail, and the men played cards for an hour and a half on the trail. We got flowers from the trail so Yanna's Aunt could make tea for the petals (#waycool).

At one point, we walked through a little village. I love stumbling upon little villages like that. It was a little farming community. Watching and observing the farming practices in China is one of my favorite things to do.

It had been a hard few weeks, but just getting out of Gongyi did wonders for me. The weather had been bad and I was just getting over a pretty bad cold/cough, so I considered not going. But I am so glad I did. Being out in nature and away from people really does me a lot of good.
