26
I am absolutely shameless when it comes to birthdays. I love celebrations and cake and people. But when it's MY birthday? LAWD HAVE MERCY. Does Queen Elizabeth even know she is dethroned on March 7th every year?

(I have notoriously been known to ask for surprise birthday parties; to which my best friend Jordan so graciously said: "You know you can't ask for a surprise party, right?" To which I replied: "WHATEVER, MAN, IT'S MY BIRTHDAY. I CAN ASK FOR WHATEVER I WANT." And then the tiara fell off my head mid-Beyonce hair-flip, and the diva toned itself down with laughter).
So this year, I turned 26. WHEN THE HECK DID THAT HAPPEN?

There are a ton of things that culture says I should be doing this year; should have done last year; etc etc. But you know what? The most important thing I can do this year is follow Jesus, obey Jesus, love Jesus. No matter where that leads.
So here's what I am grateful for:
Xiao Chun's heart of gold and princess cakes.
For Emma's thoughtfulness and ability to corral all Chinese people to celebrate.
For Dan's gift of pre-washed spinach.
For pink donuts.
For pink donuts.
For a night out with Evelyn and all the laughs and info we've been dying to share after 2+ months apart.

Because, like anything, life in Chinerr has its moments, both graciously good and impossibly difficult.
But here's what I know to be true: this is the last place I'd ever though I'd be as a twenty-something.
But here is where the Lord is.
Here is where He had led me.
Here is a surprise, a gift, a place where God is changing me, one degree at a time, one year at a time, and I'm ever so grateful.
