fall upon the future

By Monday, October 31, 2011

Dear Future,
I sure wish I knew where you were headed. But another relaxing weekend at home allows me to ponder possibilities. So much can change in a year. So much can happen in a year. Where will I be? I don’t know if I would give any amount of money to find out. Falling upon the future is the best kind of figuring out. I’ve got today. That is enough. The quiet chirps of birds are my Pandora. The breeze races along my cheeks and then stops to catch its breath. My mind says to me: “Take a picture of the college version of you. This is you – your senior self on a Saturday afternoon.” This clear fall sky reminds me that rush is something that only belongs to 5 o’clock traffic. The chime of the Wolgy bell reminds me that you can’t put a price on time. Especially the time you have left here, in this big black chair, this autumn afternoon.
